Weekly Relationship Shit Sandwich (Check-In)

$3.00

The 30-Minute Relationship Check-In

Research shows that communication, need fulfillment, jealousy conversations, sexual-health practices, and thoughtful distribution of time/resources are relevant relationship-maintenance practices. This short, 2-page document helps to get that ball rolling every week.

Have you ever heard of a shit sandwich? That’s basically what this is, and … IT WORKS. For every hard conversation, it is easiest to digest with some yummy sourdough on either side. You will start with appreciation and positive connection, dive into the needs that each of you have, followed by constructive conflict management, and intentional relationship maintenance. To close, you’ll reconnect, and remind yourself and each other that you each want to be in this relationship with the other person.

Just with any homework, you need to be consistent and actively take repetitive steps to make this work. That is where some extra help may come in. Let me know if you have any questions or would like some help getting this exercise started.

Recommended Frequency: once a week
Time: 30 minutes- 1 hour
Rule: the purpose is connection, understanding, and adjustment, not winning an argument.

This framework is deliberately relationship-structure neutral: it can work for a heterosexual couple, same-sex couple, or a consensually non-monogamous/polyamorous relationship.
